Why We Worship
Worship music is an integral part of today's church. It allows us to move beyond simply hearing truth, to expressing that truth back to our Creator in song. Worship is a dynamic experience where the message of God becomes our own. It is a catalyst for change that can transform who we are and how we see God. Worship is a journey that leads us to God. It is seeking and interacting with Him and creating an atmosphere of adoration, celebration, reverence, and praise. It is what we were created to do. Worship has depth, makes God's Word come alive, and is participatory and passionate.
From Pastor John
Worship at Victory goes hand in hand with the gospel message. Worship, in part, is the Gospel message set to music. We are committed to teaching the gospel in its fullness, so that we are lifted in our understanding of God the Father. We want to make known the love our Father God has for us and all that was accomplished for us through the death, burial, and resurrection of his Son, Jesus Christ. The greater our understanding of His love, nature, and character, the greater our response to Him in worship will be.
The Bible says in John 4:23-24 that God is seeking for those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth and that those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. To worship God in this manner, we must have a biblical understanding of who God is. Our worship should be a reflection of our heart's understanding of who God is—a God of love, grace, mercy and compassion. There are many religious people who worship a God they do not know. Their intentions may be honorable, but with no truth and no spiritual understanding, they cannot truly worship as God requires.
At each service, our worship pastor, Peter Penrose, and his team lead people into the presence of God—singing songs that reflect the goodness of God. We are blessed with talented singers and musicians, but most importantly, we are blessed with a team and congregation of people whose hearts are to worship in spirit and in truth. We invite you to come and worship with us.
